A Home in Harmony with Nature
Nestled to the north of Strathspey, with sweeping views of the River Spey and the Cairngorms, Andy Townsend and his wife, Jannett Palmer, envisioned Fasgadh Lynchurn as their dream home. A professional mountain guide at Glenmore Lodge, Andy’s connection to the outdoors heavily influenced the couple’s desire for a residence that complemented its natural surroundings and minimised environmental impact.
After months of detailed planning and consultations, they chose A.W. Laing, a renowned builder with a century-long legacy in Strathspey, to bring their vision to life.
Collaboration and Craftsmanship
Geoff Laing, Director of A.W. Laing, worked closely with Andy and Jannett throughout the project. This collaborative process allowed for creative solutions and cost-effective modifications without compromising quality or design.
The result is a harmonious blend of functionality and elegance, with the final structure embodying the clients’ aspirations while celebrating the area’s natural beauty.
Natural Elegance in Design
To integrate the house seamlessly with its environment, Douglas Fir Rainscreen Profile cladding, supplied by Logie Timber, was chosen for both the house and garage. Left untreated, this material will naturally weather into a silvery patina, echoing the rugged terrain of the Cairngorms.
All materials were meticulously selected for their sustainability, resilience, and aesthetic alignment with the project’s nature-inspired ethos.
