Job Opportunity: Operations Coordinator
- Standard: Monday to Thursday 8am–5:30pm, Friday 8am–4:30pm (44 hours)
- Flexible option: 9am start (39 hours)
- Some flexibility available for the right candidate
About the Role
We’re a young, fast-growing sawmill based on the edge of the Scottish Highlands, and we’re looking for someone to help bring order, clarity, and calm to our busy days.
As Operations Coordinator, you’ll play a key role in keeping the business running smoothly handling everything from customer orders to stock control, delivery logistics to admin. This is a hands-on, people-facing role in a working mill environment, where no two days are the same.
You’ll be based in our small (and charming) sawmill office, complete with a wood-burning stove in winter and the smell of fresh coffee year round. We’re a tight knit, collaborative team, and we’re looking for someone who thrives on making things run well and enjoys being part of something purposeful.
We don’t believe in bureaucracy for its own sake, we believe in doing things properly, improving as we go, and working with people who care.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Processing and inputting customer orders into our AirTable system
- Managing stock levels of timber and third-party products
- Organising deliveries and coordinating shipping for website orders
- Answering phones, responding to emails, and greeting walk-in customers
- General admin support and day-to-day coordination
- Keeping things moving, well organised, and on track
You’ll be encouraged to contribute to improvements in how we do things, we embrace LEAN principles and value thoughtful input from everyone. Over time, you’ll have opportunities to get involved in other areas, including time out in the mill learning how our timber is processed.
What We’re Looking For
Essential
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Excellent communication — written, phone, and face-to-face
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- A calm, problem-solving approach
- A clear understanding of our values and way of working
Desirable
- Experience with AirTable, Xero, WordPress, Shopify or Asana
- General admin or operations experience
- Knowledge of the timber trade (not essential)
- Website management or editing skills
- A full UK driving licence
Benefits & Perks
We value our team and the work they do. In addition to a supportive, creative working environment, we offer:
- Private medical cover with Aviva (with discounted family options)
- 20% discount on all timber orders
- Trade price on all products from the sawmill and Logie Steading shop
- Free firewood
- Professional development support
- ‘Staff training’ days — which often include biking, rafting, or something else outdoors and team-focused
You’ll also receive a staff discount on everything we sell, and there’ll be opportunities to get hands-on in other departments — from cutting timber to preparing furniture-grade hardwood.
